Ancient Greece Religion
The Greek religion was influenced by their Greek gods and goddesses. They worshiped a god or goddess in every city-state and the gods were said to protect them. The Greeks believed that their goddesses and gods controlled a certain part of life. Temples and statues were built to honor these gods and goddesses. For example, they had a statue of Athena in the Parthenon and in Delphi they built a temple for the god Apollo. The Greeks also told myths about those they worship, the gods. They held festivals and dedicated their sports events to their deities. They asked questions to certain gods before a journey or if they need help.
